Future Challenges
From A380, A400M and Rafale airplanes and NH90 and Tiger helicopters to the Ariane 5 launcher, changes caused by these major new projects have spilled over into the equipment and systems manufacturing sector, forcing companies to face new challenges:
companies must henceforth
compete in terms of performance and costs;
their ability to design sub-assemblies or sub-systems that are simple
and easy to integrate is a key factor;
their strategy is
to improve the productivity of their industrial tool
and offer new or additional services to increase profit margins;
innovation : 15% of company
revenue is now dedicated to research and technology and the
development of new products.
This competitive climate induces a constant pressure to be more efficient, accomplished by :
introducing new technologies;
reducing costs and streamlining
program cycles, including supply chains;
introducing new collaborative elements
such as risk sharing and work sharing,
thereby emphasizing the added value created by the collective, while
preserving the competitive edge brought by the individual (co-competitive
spirit).
